Man Utd refused to sell 28-year-old playmaker this summer

Jesse Lingard will reportedly not be sold by Manchester United this summer as transfer window has already shut down.

The England international has been widely expected to finalise a permanent move to West Ham United after scoring nine goals and five assists during a stellar loan spell last season, however, Ole Gunnar Solskajer decided to keep him at Old Trafford.

Furthermore, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho arriving at Old Trafford this summer, Lingard’s opportunities under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season could be limited.

The Hammers have made no secret of their desire to add Lingard permanently, however, the Evening Standard reports that Lingard is set to stay at Man United for the time being.

The report claims that the Hammers did not table a suitable offer for Lingard’s services, and Solskjaer is happy to give the 28-year-old the chance to prove himself in the coming months.

Lingard’s existing the Red Devils deal is still set to expire at the end of the current campaign, though, and he has only played four minutes so far in the 2021-22 Premier League season.
