Man Utd weighing up January move for AC Milan €38m signing

Manchester United are reportedly planning to make a move for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek as a replacement for injured Marcus Rashford.

The Poland international, who has also been rumoured with the Spurs, has found back of the net five times in 19 games for his Serie A club during the 2019-20 season.

The Red Devils have been hit with the news that England international forward Marcus Rashford is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to a back injury, leaving their boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperately short at the offensive end.

Man Utd have until the end of January to strengthen their squad, and according to The Athletic, Piatek has emerged as one of their top transfer target before the end of the transfer window.

The report suggested that the Red Devils are keen to secure the services of the forward on loan, although Serie A giants would only sanction a move if there is an obligation to buy at the end of the 2019-20 season for a figure in the region of £30m.

Piatek, who found back of the net 19 times in 21 games for Genoa ahead of a move to I Rossoneri, will see his current contract in Italy run until the summer of 2023.

World-Class manager in talks with Manchester United

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly in talks with Manchester United to replace underfire head-coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer whose future at Old Trafford remains to be up in the air after the defeat with Burnley.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains in charge of the 20-time English champions, however, the team’s inconsistency this campaign means that the Norwegian boss’s future at the club continues to be called into question.

The Red Devils are only six points of fourth-placed Chelsea while having a game in hand, although they suffered their eighth league loss of the season away to the Burnley last night.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the 20-time English champions are in discussions with Pochettino over the possibility of the Argentine replacing Solskjaer at the end of the season.

Pedulla claims that the ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss is prepared to wait until the summer before the agreeing to a new job, although he would demand full control over transfers before deciding to sign for any team.

The 47-year-old manager who was sacked as Tottenham boss back in November 2019 after a lacklustre start to the 2019/20 season, had also been rumoured with a move to Barcelona before Quique Setien was confirmed as Ernesto Valverde’s successor.

The Red Devils will be looking to return to winning ways in the league when they host Wolves.

Barcelona set to battle Man Utd for La Liga No.19 forward

La Liga defending champions Barcelona could reportedly battle Manchester United for the services of Valencia attacker Rodrigo Moreno before the end of the winter transfer window.

The Red Devils are believed to have identified the Spain international forward as a potential target this winter as they are in the market for Marcus Rashford replacement who will miss the rest of the season due to the back injury.

However, according to Marca, the Catalan giants are also considering a move for the 28-year-old forward as they look to strengthen their options in the final third of the field.

Barcelona are also struggling with finishing up front as Ousmane Dembele remains on the sidelines due to a hamstring problem, while Luis Suarez set to miss rest of the season having recently undergone a knee operation.

Rodrigo – thought to be valued by Spanish giants in the region of £51m – has found back of the net four times and provided 10 assists in 22 games for Los Che this campaign.

The attacker, who is capable of playing in a number of different positions in the final third of the field, also has an stunning record at international level having managed to score eight goals in 22 appearances for Spain.
