Man Utd and Arsenal eyeing move for £40.9m-rated Sporting Lisbon ace

Premier League giants Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd are reportedly all keeping close tabs on Sporting Lisbon starlet Nuno Mendes.

The 18-year-old versatile defender broke into the Sporting first team after lockdown last campaign, playing in their final nine games of the season.

Mendes has retained his spot at the start of the new campaign too, playing four games already in all competitions and founding back of the net for the first time in his senior debut before the star of the international break.

Calciomercato claims that the left-sided defender’s emergence has caught the attention of a number of top teams across Europe, including Premier League teams Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool.

The Red Devils and the Mersyeside Reds both strengthen their left-back options during the summer, while the Gunners are well stocked in that area of the pitch too, however, all three are still reportedly considering a move for Nuno Mendes.

AC Milan are also interested in the talented defender, although a sticking point could be his price tag with Sporting unwilling to consider anything below his €45m (£40.9m) release clause.

Mendes, whose deal with the Portuguese outfit does not end until 2025, has featured mainly as a left wing-back for Sporting, however, is also capable of playing in central defence.

Liverpool and Man Utd eyeing move for 23-year-old versatile midfielder valued at £40m

Liverpool and Man Utd are among five Premier League teams reportedly planning a late move for Bournemouth versatile midfielder David Brooks.

The 23-year-old missed the vast majority of last campaign through injury, being limited to only nine games as the Cherries suffered relegation from the English top-tier.

Brooks has nonetheless been rumoured with a move away from the Vitality Stadium throughout the summer, and top-flight teams still have until 5pm on Friday to finalise a deal before the domestic window shuts down.

The Daily Mail claims that five Premier League club are keeping tabs on the Wales international’s situation.

Man Utd and Liverpool are among the interested teams, while league leaders Everton and  Leicester City are also in the hunt for his services.

The Cherries are bracing themselves for late interest in the midfielder, however, are adamant that he will not be sold for anything less than £40m a fee which could prove problematic for any potential suitors.

Bournemouth have already lost key players such as Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser, Nathan Ake and Aaron Ramsdale since suffering relegation, while Joshua King has also been strongly linked with a move away before Friday’s deadline.

Barcelona ready to lower asking price for Liverpool and Man Utd transfer target

La Liga giants, Barcelona are reportedly prepared to lower their price tag for Ousmane Dembele to just £45m when the transfer window will be re-opened in the summer.

The 23-year-old winger was strongly linked with a loan move away from Nou Camp this summer, however, interest from the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool failed to materialise into a concrete bid.

The Catalan giants were keen to tie Dembele down to a new deal before letting him depart on loan to protect his transfer value, however, the winger’s refusal to sign a new deal scuppered theirt plans to both offload him and sign Memphis Depay as a long-term replacement.

Barcelona are still trying to convince Dembele to extend his contract, however, Spanish outlet Sport claims that they are ready to slash their price tag in January should he refuse again.

The Frenchman would be available as little as £45m – less than half the £97m Barcelona paid to sign him from Dortmund just three years ago.

Dembele’s current contract does not expire until 2022 however, Barcelona are desperate to offload him either on a temporary or permanent basis to trim their wage bill.

The forward has featured for just 20 minutes under new Barcelona head-coach Ronald Koeman so far this campaign and has been limited to only 52 La Liga games in total since joining the club.
