Manchester United are “confident” of securing the deal for Chelsea winger Willian following Brazil’s failure at the world-cup tournament.
Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho has made the 29-year-old his no.1 transfer target this summer according to The Sun.
Manchester United are believed to be locked in a two-way battle for Brazil international forward with La Liga giants Barcelona, with both teams offering £60m for the South American forward.
Willian previously vowed to focus on World Cup season before resolving his future, however, after his country’s defeat to Belgium national team in Russia, the Red Devils are believed to have stepped up their efforts to secure the services of Brazilian forward.
The winger has spent the last five season at Chelsea winning the Premier League title twice and both domestic cups in the process.
Mourinho has been a huge fan of 29-year-old Brazilian winger who has been the Blues best player while Portuguese manager has been in charge of the West London team for the second spell.
Meanwhile, Chelsea plan to use Willian in a makeweight deal for French winger Anthony Martial who is likely to depart from Old Trafford this summer.
Manchester United are firmly favourites to secure services of Barcelona rising star Nico Gonzalez.
The 16-year-old playmaker had been one of three youngsters picked to step up to play for the club’s Juvenil A side next campaign, the final level of the Catalans famed La Masia youth academy.
Spanish champions are growing increasingly concerned over his long-term future at Nou Camp, however with the youngster stalling on penning a new contract, having received ‘huge’ offers from hosts of European clubs
The Red Devils are eager to convince the teenager to follow the path of Spanish centre-back Gerard Pique who has joined the Theater of the Dreams stadium at the early stage of his career and are hopeful a relationship between Nico’s father Fran Gonzalez and the club’s head of youth recruitment David Harrison could help the Reds to get deal done.
While no final decisions have been made, Spanish champions have already lost a handful of their promising players this summer. Pablo Moreno is believed to join Juventus within days with Adria Bernabe to become the Man City’s latest recruit.
Joel Lopez is believed to have already told the team he will not sign a deal with them and will instead make a switch to Arsenal while Robert Navarro, perhaps the brightest prospect of the group is on the brink to sign for AS Monaco.
