Man Utd failed in their bid to sign creative English midfielder from Aston Villa

Manchester United failed in a transfer move for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish earlier this month, according to reports.

The Norwegian manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Jack Grealish one of his top targets after watching from afar as the playmaker has flourished at Aston Villa.

The 24-year–old attacking-minded midfielder has been Villa’s stand-out performer as they battle Premier League relegation this campaign and would be expected to leave the club this summer if his side slip make a return to Championship.

The Independent claim the Red Devils plan to move for either Grealish or Leicester City’s creative midfielder James Maddison.

The 20-times English champions enquired about signing Grealish in January, however, Aston Villa turned down the approach because of the 24-year-old’s importance to the team.

Red Devil supporters have so far been left bitterly disappointed with the Red Devils transfer business in January after rumblings the team were planning a big January.

Norwegian manager was aiming to sign at least two players, however, after missing out on Erling Haaland and still in talks with Sporting Lisbon over a transfer for Bruno Fernandes, it is now appears unlikely the Red Devils will make a huge impact on their squad this month.

The January window slams shut at 11pm on Friday and Man Utd head-coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not appear confident in his latest comments that any signings would be made this month.

‘We’ve got players here who are working hard to get back as well and if there is something out there then the club are pursuing that and looking at it,’ the
Norwegian said ahead of the second leg of United’s Carabao Cup clash with Manchester City.

‘Of course it’s a difficult window and it always has been.

‘I can’t remember how many good’ns we’ve brought in in January… Henrik [Larsson] was good, Nemanja [Vidic] and Patrice [Evra] were two good ones. Henrik was a loan…

‘It’s hard, it’s very hard. The clubs don’t want to lose their best players so Alexis Sanchez will come back in the summer and prove you all wrong.’

Barcelona set to hijack Man Utd move for £68m-rated midfielder

Man United risk losing their long-term transfer Bruno Fernandes after Barcelona began talks with the agent of the 25-yea-old midfielder.

According to Sky Sports News, La Liga giants prepared to loan the 25-year-old to Valencia for the rest of the current campaign.

Barcelona keen on to sign Valencia’s Rodrigo and are hopeful that by allowing Portuguese midfielder to join Los Che on a temporary basis they stand a better chance of finalising a deal for the 28-year-old forward.

The Red Devils have been keeping tabs on Fernandes since last summer, however, have been unable to agree on a fee with Sporting Lisbon, who have also received interest from Tottenham Hotspur in their key player.

Sporting are holding out for £68million, while the 20-times English champions believe Fernandes is worth some £20m less than their current asking price.

Man Utd boss had been desperate for strengthening their midfield options this month given the injuries to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba, however, now looks set to be forced to make do with the team he has at his disposal.

‘You’re wasting it. So don’t ask it,’ said Solskjaer when asked about Fernandes ahead of tomorrow’s Carabao Cup semi final second leg against Manchester City.

‘I haven’t got any updates for you on transfers. I think it was a waste (of a question). I gave you the option.

‘I haven’t got anything to say now, my mind is on the game.’
