Man Utd set to offer Barcelona chance to sign 24-year-old midfielder

Manchester United playmaker Donny van de Beek was reportedly offered to Barcelona in a swap deal for French centre-back Samuel Umtiti.

Van de Beek’s first full campaign at Man United saw him feature a mere four times from the first whistle in the English top-tier, and he has been tipped to head for the exit door amid interest from Arsenal.

Meanwhile, French centre-back, Samuel Umtiti has been pictured taking part in pre-season training with the Catalan club, however, he is one of the teams big earners believed to be on the transfer list given their financial crisis.

According to Sport, Van de Beek was offered to the Spanish giants and the Red Devils would have been given Umtiti in return, however, it is unclear whether the 20-times English champions, were actually interested in the Frenchman.

The Red Devils are instead expected to secure a contract for Umtiti’s 2018 World Cup partner Raphael Varane, who was also the subject of a rumoured part-exchange deal involving Dutch midfielder, Donny Van de Beek.

Samuel Umtiti, meanwhile, is being heavily linked with a return to Ligue 1 giants, Lyon, and Les Gones have reportedly opened talks with La Liga club Barcelona over a loan deal for the centre-back.

Man Utd favourites to sign €300,000 a-week La Liga playmaker

Premier League rivals Liverpool and Man Utd have reportedly expressed their interest in securing the services of Atletico Madrid playmaker Saul Niguez.

The 26-year-old Spaniard has fallen out of favour under Argentine head coach, Diego Simeone, and following the arrival of Rodrigo De Paul from Serie A outfit Udinese, the La Liga winners are now willing to let the Spaniard leave this summer.

La Liga giants, Barcelona are the current frontrunners for his services, as they have entered talks with Atletico over a potential swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez.

However, according to AS, Liverpool and Man Utd are waiting in the wings and will make a move for the playmaker if talks with the Catalan giants failed to materialise, with the player’s agent having already held discussions with both teams.

Despite having five years left on his current deal, Saul is valued by Atletico at just £34.3m, a figure that both Premier League teams are prepared to pay.

Since making his senior debut in March 2012, Saul Niguez has played 337 games for Atletico, founding back of the net 43 times and providing 19 assists.

Everton joined the race for £75,000 a-week Man Utd midfielder

Everton are in the running to secure the services of Jesse Lingard from Manchester United, according to a report.

Lingard revived his career during a loan spell with London outfits, West Ham United in the second half of 2020-21, scoring and assisting a combined 13 goals in 16 games.

The Hammers are keen to bring the England international back to the London Stadium this coming campaign, but The Sun reports that David Moyes faces stiff competition from his former team.

Everton are believed to be looking to further strengthen out wide, having already brought in free agent Andros Townsend, and new head-coach Rafael Benitez has identified Lingard as an ideal option.

However, speaking to reporters last weekend, the Red Devils head-coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believed for the 28-year-old is currently part of his plans for the 2021-22 season.

Meanwhile, AS Roma are reportedly keeping close tabs on Eric Bailly’s contract situation at Man United and could make a move for the defender during this summer’s transfer window.

The 27-year-old centre-back has only signed a new deal with the 20-times English champions in April, however, there remains speculation surrounding his future, with a recent report suggesting that he was available for purchase this summer.

Bailly is already behind Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire in the pecking order at Old Trafford and would likely drop to the fourth choice if the Red Devils signed another defender ahead of the next campaign.

According to Il Tempo, incoming AS Roma’s head-coach Jose Mourinho has identified former Villarreal defender as a possible acquisition during this summer’s transfer window.
