Wolves set to hijack Man Utd move for £40m-rated South American midfielder

Wolves are reportedly preparing to put together a proposal to secure services of River Plate playmaker Enzo Fernandez who has been rumoured with a switch to Man Utd recently.

Head coach Bruno Lage is keen to strengthen in the middle of the pitch this summer, particularly with the future of star man Ruben Neves remaining unresolved.

Wolves are allegedly attempting to securing the services of Sporting Lisbon pair Joao Palhinha and Matheus Nunes, the former for a club-record fee of in excess of £40m.

However, according to ESPN journalist Javier Gil Navarro, Wolves are also interested in winning the hotly-contested race for Fernandez.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the top emerging South American talents in his position, already starring in the centre of the pitch for the Argentine giants.

As recently as last month, it was reported that Man Utd, Real Madrid and the Citizens were all admirers of Fernandez and could make an offer of their own this summer.

Man Utd new boss Erik ten Hag has identified Enzo Fernandez as a cheaper alternative to Frenkie de Jong.

In total, 11 goals and nine assists have been contributed from 49 games in all competitions, Fernandez capable of playing as a defensive midfielder or playmaker.

Although Fernandez is yet to represent his national team at senior level, he was called-up to the team back in November, an indication that he is on the radar of Lionel Scaloni ahead of the World Cup.

Man Utd keeping close tabs on five times Champions League winning midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly keeping close tabs on Toni Kroos’s situation at La Liga giants, Real Madrid amid reports that the midfielder is open to depart from Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

The 32-year-old was again a vital player for Real Madrid during the 2021-22 season, playing 44 games in all competitions, founding back of the net three times and provided three assists in the process.

The Germans deal at Bernabeu is set to end next June, though, and according to SER Deportivos, he is not currently interested in securing an extension.

The report suggests that Kroos who has won the five Champions League title in his career ‘does not want to become a burden’ to the team, which could see him push for a move away from the Spanish capital during the summer trnasfer window.

The 20-times English champions have allegedly been alerted to the developments, with Erik ten Hag’s side open to signing two new central midfielders in the current market.

Man Utd are believed to have been close to securing the services of Toni Kroos from German giants, Bayern Munich back in 2014, but the former Germany international ultimately made the move to Real Madrid.

The midfielder has played 365 games for Los Blancos in all competitions, winning three La Liga trophies and four Champions League titles during a highly-successful period.

Kroos will be 33 early next year, though, and Carlo Ancelotti’s team are well-stocked in central midfield, with Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga impressing alongside Luka Modric and Casemiro, while Aurelien Tchouameni has arrived this summer from Monaco.

As a result, Real Madrid could be open to selling Toni Kroos in the summer and Man Utd are keen on to lure him at Old Trafford.

Man United under-fire forward hopes for fresh start under Erik ten Hag

Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford is reportedly determined to remain at the club in the summer and prove himself under new head-coach Erik ten Hag.

Rashford’s future with the Red Devils has come under the spotlight in recent weeks after he fell down the pecking order last campaign.

The 24-year-old forward has played just 18 starts across all competitions – including only 13 in the English top-tier – as the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho.

Neither Ole Gunnar Solskjaer nor Ralf Rangnick regarded Marcus Rashford as a regular member of their starting lineup, and reports have claimed that he could be sold in the summer as the incoming Ten Hag looks to rebuild his team.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are among the teams to have been credited with an interest in the England international, however, Goal reports that he is keen to remain at Old Trafford and earn his place under the new head-coach.

The report suggests that Marcus Rashford has enlisted the help of his own personal trainer during the summer to make sure that he is ready to hit the ground running when the team return for pre-season training next month.

The English centre-forward is also believed to have asked current teammate Donny van de Beek and ex-teammate Daley Blind about Ten Hag’s coaching techniques to help give him a head start.
