Man Utd unlikely to sign 22-year-old defender valued at £37.3m
Manchester United are reportedly unlikely to attempt to secure services of RB Leipzig central centre-back Dayot Upamecano during the upcoming summer transfer window.
A €42m (£37.3m) release clause in French centre-back’s deal can be activated at the end of the 2020-21 season, and a host of teams are believed to be in the hunt for the 22-year-old defender.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the French midfielder amid rumours that head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be handed funds to bring a new defender to the club this summer.
However, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are unlikely to pursue the Frenchman in the upcoming window.
Romano suggests that Upamecano is ‘appreciated’ by the Red Devils, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ‘have never been in advanced talks’ to bring him to Old Trafford.
Bayern Munich are believed to be the favourites for the ex-Valenciennes starlet, although Liverpool and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest.
Real Madrid defensive pair Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos have been also rumoured with a switch to Old Trafford due to their contract situation at Santiago Bernabeu.
Manchester United and PSG go head-to-head to sign 27-year-old French defender
Paris Saint-Germain and Man Utd are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation involving Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane.
The 27-year-old France international defender has enjoyed a legendary career at Santiago Bernabeu, helping the team to claim 18 pieces of silverware since he joined the club.
However, with less than 18 months left on his current deal, the France international is believed to be contemplating a fresh challenge.
According to Marca, the Los Blancos are open to selling the World Cup winning defender in the summer if he does not signs contract extension with the club.
The report suggests that PSG and the Red Devils are long-term admirers of the French defender who could be available for a fee in the region of £45m.
The financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic mean that Real Madrid officials will not risk losing one of their vital players on a free transfer in 2022.
Real Madrid another centre-back Sergio Ramos has been also rumoured with a switch to Old Trafford as the Spanish giants refusing to offer him two-year contract extension and legendary skipper could be on his way out from Santiago Bernabeu.
AC Milan set to agree deal for £35,000 a-week Man Utd defender
Serie A giants AC Milan could reportedly try to secure the services of Man United’s full-back Diogo Dalot on a permanent basis in the summer.
The 21-year-old linked up with the Stefano Pioli’s side last year after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford, however, he has largely struggled to make an impact in the Italian top-tier, starting just four top-flight games.
However, Dalot has played a vital role for Milan in the Europa League and Coppa Italia this campaign, and he is supposedly hopeful of remaining in AC Milan beyond the end of the campaign.
According to Calciomercato, Serie A giants will consider Dalot’s future at the team when the current season concludes, however, their priorities right now are tying Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu down to new deals.
Man United forked out a fee of £19m to secure services of Dalot from Porto back in 2018, however, the report claims that Milan will not need to pay the same amount for the right-back if they do choose to make his stay permanent.
The Portugal Under-21s international will see his current contract at Old Trafford end in 2023, and Sevilla are believed to be keeping a close eye on progress as well.
