Man Utd set to make approach for Serie A No.2 defensive rock

Manchester United could reportedly attempt to secure the services pf Inter Milan defender Diego Godin in the summer.

The 34-year-old spent nine campaigns with Atletico Madrid before making the switch to Inter Milan ahead of the 2019-20 season.

The Italian giants are allegedly open to selling the veteran defender this summer, though, as head coach Antonio Conte does not believe that the he fits into his favoured 3-5-2 formation.

The Red Devils were rumoured with Godin during his time with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, and according to Corriere dello Sport, the Red Devils are now weighing up an approach during in the summer transfer window.

The report, though, suggests that Valencia are likely to rival the 20-times English champions for his services.

Godin, who has played 25 games for Inter Milan during the 2019-20 season, will see his current deal at San Siro expire in the summer of 2022.

Meanwhile, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has reportedly informed his team’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis that he is open to the idea of departing from Stadio San Paolo in the summer.

The Senegalese international defender who has a contract in Naples until the end of the 2022-23 season, continues to be rumoured with a host of Europe’s top teams.

Manchester United are believed to have a firm interest in the 28-year-old captain even though they spent big money on Harry Maguire during the summer transfer window.
