Man Utd set to make approach for world-class defensive duo

January 14, 2019

Manchester United are reportedly desperate to sign either Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar or Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly or as part of a defensive revamp.

The Red Devils have won each of their five games since Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as head coach, however, the team’s defensive issues have been on display throughout the 2018/19 campaign.

The Red Devils were rumoured with the likes of Leicester City’s defender Harry Maguire and Tottenham Hotspur’s centre-back Toby Alderweireld during the summer transfer window, however, both ultimately stayed in their teams.

According to The Independent, the two names now on the Red Devils wishlist are Koulibaly and Skriniar, with both are one of the best player in Serie A.

The 27-year-old Koulibaly, is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in world football and has previously been rumoured a £95m bid from United, according to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Skriniar, meanwhile, joined Inter Milan from Sampdoria back in 2017 and the 23-year-old has played 63 games for the Italian giants in all tournaments.

The Red Devils have conceded 32 goals in their 21 Premier League games during the 2018-19 season.
