Declan Rice has been reported as a summer target for Manchester United this summer but Nicky Butt doesn’t believe Rice would improve the Red Devils.
The ex-Manchester United midfielder compared Declan to Scotland international Scott McTominay but doesn’t believe the Hammer to be an improvement on the Red Devils man.
Declan and Scott faced each other in the England vs Scotland encounter at UEFA Euro 2020 and Butt thinks McTominay is at least equal to West Ham’s vice-captain.
“I think Man United are solid enough in midfield. I keep hearing things about Declan Rice, but is he a better player than Scott McTominay?” Nicky said to Ladbrokes.
“I’m not sure; I think with McTominay, Paul Pogba and obviously Bruno Fernandes, we [Manchester United] are in a good place in the middle of the park.”
Rice is reportedly interested in a move to United with the Manchester Evening News claiming that he was questioning the United stars about life in Manchester during his country’s get-together in March.
However, at the time and throughout the campaign West Ham and David Moyes’ stance has never wavered, with Declan not for sale, and even an offer of over £100 million wouldn’t prise their asset from the London Stadium.
