Man Utd urged to sign creative English duo

Manchester United legend Wes Brown thinks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should attempt to land James Maddison and Jack Grealish in the January transfer window.

Solskjaer wants Ed Woodward to strengthen his Manchester United squad with at least four new players over the next two transfer windows, in spite of spending £150m last summer.

New additions Daniel James, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all impressed for the Red Devils but Ole’s side have still endured a poor start to the new campaign.

United held PL leaders Liverpool to a draw earlier in the month and beat Frank Lampard’s Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday but are seventh in the standings ahead of this weekend’s action.

Red Devils hero Brown expects the club to be busy during the January transfer market and says his former club should look to land Premier League stars Maddison and Grealish.

‘I think Ole will try and buy in January,’ the five-time PL winner told 888sport. ‘United need another striker and an attacking midfielder, that little wizard number 10.

‘Jack Grealish in the last few games has come on immensely. He can always see the pass.

‘James Maddison has always been good and he’s a threat getting into the box. ‘These are two young English players who would definitely help the squad.’

Meantime, Manchester United have informed Serie A giants ASRoma’s owners that they want £12.9 million for England international Chris Smalling, according to a recent report by Sky Sports News.
