Manchester United are reportedly open to agreeing a part-exchange deal involving their out-of-favour defender Eric Bailly and Villarreal 23-year-old star Pau Torres.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been increasingly reliant on Swedish centre-back Victor Lindelof and their record signing Harry Maguire over the past 12 months, partly the pair to injury issues further down the pecking order.
Bailly has played just four games during 2020-21, taking the Ivory Coast international to 15 appearances for the calendar year.
In a bid to solve their problems in the middle of backline, TEAMtalk reports that the Red Devils want to swap Bailly with Villarreal’s Torres who has been tipped to depart from the Yellow Submarine ahead of the next season and both Arsenal and Man Utd thought to be he favoured destination.
Eric Bailly earned his move to Old Trafford in 2016 through his form for the Yellow Submarine, a route which 23-year-old defender has taken to become a target for a number of top European teams.
Unwilling to pay in excess of £60m for the Spaniard, the Red Devils are hoping that they can lower any fee with the inclusion of Eric Bailly in any proposal.
