Arsenal head-coach Mikel Arteta was reportedly so determined to re-sign Spanish playmaker, Dani Ceballos back to the Emirates Stadium that he personally stepped in negotiations with Real Madrid to get the deal done.
Ceballos enjoyed an stunning second half of the last campaign on loan at the Emirates Stadium from La Liga giants, Real Madrid back in the 2019-20 season, forming an effective midfield partnership with Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka as the Gunners managed to claim the the FA Cup and Community Shield trophy.
The Spaniard initially travelled back to his parent club, Real Madrid for the current campaign, however, the Gunners managed to secure the services of Ceballos on loan for the 2020-21 season as well.
Now, Marca reports that Arteta, who would normally allow technical director Edu to handle transfer business, urged the powers-that-be at the North London club to get another deal for Spaniard finalised- even if it was just on loan rather than a permanent move.
The 24-year-old’s long-term future still stays unclear, however, with the Los Blancos supposedly viewing him as an integral part of their future plans at Santiago Bernabeu.
Ceballos has played 43 games for the North London club across his two loan spells, and the ex-Real Betis man can look forward to sharing a midfield with deadline-day arrival Thomas Partey on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.
