Arsenal head-coach Mikel Arteta has ruled out the possibility of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departure from the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The Gabon international signed a new contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2023 last summer, however, he struggled to show his best form in the 2020-21 campaign.

Aubameyang was strongly linked with a switch away before committing his future to the Gunners, and transfer rumours have resurfaced once more, however, Arteta is not worried about his captains future.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Manchester City, Arteta said: “Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is our player and he will remain here.”

Gabon international forward took home the game ball after scoring a hat-trick in Wednesday’s 6-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the EFL Cup, during which Alexandre Lacazette, Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe and also opened their accounts for the season.

The North London giants will now aim to recover from opening Premier League loss to Brentford and Chelsea when they face Man City on Saturday lunchtime.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are still in the race to sign former Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier, however, Atletico Madrid are believed to demanding Lacazette or Aubameyang in any deal.
