Arsenal centre back Shkodran Mustafi could be set to miss his side’s Premier League clash with Southampton on Sunday.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had revealed earlier in the week that the Germany international is struggling with a thigh problem that might keep him sidelined past the weekend; Mustafi suffered the injury in Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United last weekend and was left out of an experimental side that demolished BATE Borisov 6-0 in the Europa League last night.
However, yesterday, Wenger stated that the key defender could be fit to start at the weekend, saying: “There is a small problem with Mustafi from Saturday. He’s got a little thigh problem, but it’s a small one. He could be available for Southampton.”
Mustafi has had had thigh problems already this season, which has limited his game time to ten outings.
