Newcastle United are reportedly planning to make a move for Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri next month.
The ex-Stoke City forward has failed to secure a regular spot in Klopp’s starting XI since his arrival at Anfield – being restricted to make only six Premier League appearences this season.
Shaqiri’s current deal in Merseyside is set to expire until the summer of 2023, however, the Merseyside Reds would supposedly be willing to part ways with the Swiss playmaker to fund a move for RB Leipzig centre-forward Timo Werner.
According to The Daily Mail, the Magpies have already made contact with the agent of Swiss playmaker over a potential deal ahead of the 2020/21 season, as they are expected to splash the cash should the proposed Saudi-backed takeover get done.
The report also suggests that Premier League giants Liverpool are likely to free up several spaces in their team to balance the books in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, with Adam Lallana also believed to depart from Anfield during the summer transfer window.
Shaqiri has managed to found back of the net seven times from 40 appearances for the Merseyside Reds since the arrival from Stoke City back in 2018.
