Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to use stopper Freddie Woodman in any proposal for Arsenal attacker Joe Willock.
Mikel Arteta has suggested that Willock will feature in his Gunners squad next campaign after founding back of the net eight times during a loan spell at St James’ Park.
However, with Willock having emerged as his vital man during the second half of the last season, his Magpies counterpart Steve Bruce is eager to sign the 21-year-old on a permanent basis.
According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle United are ready to tempt the Gunners into a deal by offering Woodman in part-exchange.
Despite the 24-year-old impressing on loan at Swansea City since 2019, Bruce may be prepared to use Woodman’s growing status to secure his priority transfer target.
The report suggests that Gunners are keen to add an English stopper to their ranks as they bid to strengthen their homegrown quota.
Meanwhile, AS Roma have reportedly agreed to meet Arsenal’s €20m (£17m) price tag for Swiss midfielder, Granit Xhaka.
The Switzerland international was again a vital player for the North London club during the 2020-21 season, playing 45 games in all competitions, scoring one goal and two assists in the process.
AS Roma have allegedly identified the 28-year-old as a leading transfer target, though, and the Gunners are said to be open to selling the Swiss, as they prepare a massive squad overhaul ahead of the next season.
