Thago Alcantara has been recently rumoured with a move to Liverpool during the summer transfer window, by countless outlets across the world.
It’s now gone as far as Pep Guardiola has been asked about his ex-player in an interview ahead of Man City’s FA Cup clash against Arsenal.
The Spaniard worked with Thiago at both Bayern Munich and Barcelona, so it’s fair to claim that he knows everything about him.
The City head-coach has tipped the reported the Merseyside Reds target to succeed in the English top-tier, should a move come to fruition. “No doubt about it,” he’s quoted as saying by GOAL.
“A player who plays for Barcelona and Bayern Munich can play in the Premier League. He’s an exceptional player, but I don’t know what he’s going to do.”
For us at EOTK – we don’t think a move for Spanish playmaker makes a great deal of sense, even though former Barcelona star is our most competitive area in the team.
The Spanish international will become 30 next campaign, has a pretty poor injury record, and will command huge wages – a reflection of his ability – it just doesn’t sound like an FSG signing.
That being said, Thiago is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in Europe and Liverpool would receive a huge upgrade in the midfield are if he agrees to join the Merseyside Reds.
