Ray Parlour urged Arsenal to sign 28-year-old Crystal Palace forward

Ray Parlour would ‘love’ Arsenal to land Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha and hailed the player as a ‘real talent’.

Arsenal had the opportunity to sign the Ivory Coast international two seasons ago when Unai Emery was in charge but instead purchased expensive flop, Nicolas Pepe.

While Wilfried has eight goals and two assists to his name in the top-flight this season, Pepe has registered just two goals and Ray admitted he would still love the Ivorian attacker to land at the Emirates.

‘I’m sure Emery would have loved to have someone like Zaha but again it’s down to the board and money available, I don’t know what the situation was with the funds they had behind the scenes,’ Parlour told Stadium Astro.

‘The deal probably wasn’t right for Crystal Palace if Arsenal couldn’t pay it up front. But certainly he’s a real talent. He’s a real talent. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see him in an Arsenal shirt.’

Elsewhere, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are keen on signing Alexandre Lacazette, according to the latest reports.

Atletico tried to bring the France attacker to Spain before he joined the north Londoners for £46.5 million from Lyon in 2017.

Now, Spanish outlet AS report Atletico are preparing to revive their interest in Lacazette amid a ‘strained’ relationship with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

The report adds Los Blancos have also joined the race to land the 29-year-old, who has 18 months left on his current contract.
