RB Leipzig are engaged in discussions to sign Wolfsburg centre-half Maxence Lacroix, who is also a target for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, and have been tipped to make a bid soon, according to Sky Deutschland.
The 21-year-old signed for Wolfsburg from French club Sochaux for a sum in the region of €5 million last summer and quickly established himself as a regular starter for them.
Maxence has three more years remaining on his deal with Wolfsburg but could be already on his way out of the German top-flight outfit.
Borussia Dortmund have been touted with an interest in the centre-half, while the Stamford Bridge outfit are said to have been in touch with his agents.
However, Die Roten Bullen appear to have leapfrogged both the Blues and Die Borussen in the chase for the France Under-20 international.
The Bundesliga runners-up are locked in concrete negotiations to sign Lacroix from league rivals Die Wolfe and are expected to make a formal offer soon.
RB Leipzig have earmarked the Frenchman as the perfect replacement for Ibrahima Konate, who has penned a five-year deal with Liverpool.
It is said that Wolfsburg will sanction a transfer for Maxence if they get an offer of €30 million, which should not be a concern for their domestic rivals, who bagged €41 million for the sale of Konate.
