Real Betis key man emerged as shock transfer target for Liverpool

Real Betis playmaker Guido Rodriguez has attracted the attention of Liverpool, according to the reports.

The Merseyside Reds have lost both Marko Grujic and Georginio Wijnaldum Porto and Paris Saint-Germain respectively in the summer and are yet to strengthen their midfield ranks.

The likes of Yves Bissouma, Renato Sanches and Youri Tielemans, have all been rumoured with a move to Anfield, however, the Merseyside Reds could be priced out of moves for the former two, while Barcelona is believed to be Sanches’s preferred destination.

According to La Razon, Real Betis lynchpin Rodriguez – a regular for Argentina during their Copa America triumph – is now on the Merseyside Reds midfield wishlist.

The report claims that the 27-year-old possesses a £68m release clause in his existing deal – which expires in 2024 – however, Betis are prepared to sanction a sale for as little as £25m given their need to raise funds.

Rodriguez played 34 La Liga games in the starting XI under Manuel Pellegrini for Betis the last season and has been capped 10 times by the Argentina national team.

Real Betis another star Nabil Fekir has been rumoured with a move to Liverpool in recent years and still remains to be on the wishlist of Jurgen Klopp.
