Real Madrid and Liverpool go head-to-head to sign Belgian forward

La Liga giants, Real Madrid reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign Leicester City’s midfielder Youri Tielemans during next summer’s transfer window.

The 24-year-old has excelled for Brandan Rodgers’s side since arriving from AS Monaco in 2019, however, his current contract at the King Power Stadium is set to expire in June 2023, which has led to a host of rumours about his future.

Manchester United and Barcelona are among a number of teams believed to be keen on securing the services of the Belgium international at some stage in the near future.

According to El Nacional, there is also genuine interest from Liverpool as well and La Liga giants, Real Madrid, with Los Blancos head-coach Carlo Ancelotti identifying Tielemans as a leading midfield target and a possible replacement for ageing Luka Modric.

The Belgian has again been a vital player for Brendan Rodgers’s team at the start of the new campaign, playing 10 games in the starting XI in all competitions, scoring one goal and assisting twice in the process.

Real Madrid are also allegedly keen to bring both, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe to the club in 2022.
