Real Madrid are reportedly hopeful of landing Man United star Paul Pogba on a free transfer next summer. Los Blancos hold a long-standing interest in France international, having also been in his pursuit back in 2016 when the midfielder chose to join the Red Devils instead.
The interest has not waned a lot since, although Real Madrid have admired Pogba from afar up until now. However, with the prospect of a free transfer looming, La Liga giants have leapt into action.
While Real Madrid have already strengthened their midfield in the summer transfer window that has only passed in the form of Camavinga, the fact that both Modric and Kroos are well into their thirties means it will be a prudent move to make a move for someone like Paul.
Indeed, the likes of Ceballos and Isco are expected to leave Los Blancos sooner or later means signing the French midfielder on a Bosman deal could be a masterstroke. And, recent reports have even suggested that the 28-year-old midfielder himself prefers a move to Los Blancos if he runs down his contract at Man United.
Now, Les Gones are increasingly confident of snapping up the Frenchman if he has not signed a new deal by the turn of the year. Man United, though, will put Paul Pogba up for sale if he has not penned a renewal by January, which could force Los Blancos to snap him up on a cut-price fee instead. An intriguing next few months beckon.
