Former Chelsea skipper, Dennis Wise, has said that Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte is ‘waiting’ to until Roman Abramovich gets him sacked from his current job.
This is despite the impressive 3-2 comeback against Southampton.
The defending Premier League champions were on course for their tenth league loss of the 2017/18 season after Jan Bednarek followed up Duaan Tadic’s first-half goal at St Mary’s stadium.
However, Olivier Giroud came on for Alvaro Morata and his brace has helped the Blues to secure the three points that will keep the Blues hopes to finish on top four.
During the break, Antonio Conte took up his position in the dugout before his players had even come out for the second half and Wise felt this was a clear message that he is waiting to get sacked from Stamford Bridge.
Wise added, “Look at his persona, the way he comes across he looks like the season is done and they haven’t done what they’re supposed to do.
“From a Chelsea person it is sad to see that – I want to see a big smile on his face.
“It seems like he is waiting for the moment [he’s sacked]. He keeps saying ‘I’m trying my best… this is the situation, we try for the fans’ but it’s the same tone.
“It’s the same downness – the disappointing thing is it seems like he’s waiting [to be sacked].”
During his debut in Premier League Antonio Conte has led Chelsea to claim the league title. However, this term his side likely to miss out on top four and being eliminated from the 1/16 Champions League tie.
