Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense president Mario Celso Petraglia has revealed that the Gunners hold an interest in securing the services of Bruno Guimaraes.
The 22-year-old midfielder has established himself as one of the top class players in Brazil, earning recognition with his nation’s U-23 side.
A move to Europe is expected during 2020, with Petraglia claiming that Portuguese giants Benfica have made an approach for the player this winter transfer window.
However, despite not expecting a bid in January, the Paranaense chief has also claimed that the Gunners are keen on Guimaraes who has been one of the best defensive-minded midfielders in Brazil.
Speaking to O Jogo, Petraglia said: “Yes it’s true. Yesterday came the official offer from Benfica to sign Bruno Guimaraes. Let’s study Benfica’s offer. On Monday we will meet the club board to assess this situation.
“Arsenal are interested, but will only make an offer towards the end of the season.”
The 22-year-old midfielder still has three years left on his current deal and the Gunners will have to splash money in order to get the deal done.
Meanwhile, Arsenal eyeing a move for another Brazilian star Eric Ramires who also operates as a central midfielder for Bahia.
