Following his brilliant performance against Barcelona, the legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger once again recalled why and how Gunners failed to attract Kylian Mbappe on a free.
It’s a story that he will never live down, such is the Frenchman’s ability these days, but there are other talents out there with bright futures, and Arsenal could be attempting to make up for their previous mistakes going forward.
One of those being looked at in the French top-flight, according to journalist Cedric Drouet, who works for Perform and commentates on matches for DAZN, is Montpellier’s Elye Wahi.
The 18-year-old attacker has enjoyed a good first eight matches for the club this season, thrown in at the deep end in last year’s December, and making cameos ever since, netting three goals along the way.
This has already earned the player attention from some big clubs, with the north Londoners allegedly showing ‘strong interest’ in the gifted forward.
Elsewhere, Arsenal allegedly want to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s Mathew Ryan and Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos on permanent deals in the summer’s transfer window.
Dani returned to the Emirates Stadium on loan last year, and the 24-year-old star has again been a regular during the 2020-21 season, making 25 appearances across all competitions.
A recent report stated that Madrid are open to selling the midfielder in the upcoming market, although Zinedine Zidane’s team would be looking for a sum in the region of £22m.
According to The Sun, Arsenal want to sign the playmaker on a permanent deal, while they are also interested in securing a transfer for goalkeeper Ryan, who arrived on loan from the Seagulls in January.
