Dani Ceballos is reportedly set to return to Arsenal on loan from La Liga giants Real Madrid following a crucial intervention from manager Mikel Arteta.
The Spain international joined the north Londoners 12 months ago having been deemed surplus to requirements by chief Zinedine Zidane and was convinced to join the Gunners by Unai Emery.
Dani struggled to make a positive impact under Mikel’s predecessor, but thrived at the heart of the Gunners’ engine room during the latter stages of last campaign, forming an effective partnership with Granit Xhaka.
The 24-year-old star has been forced to wait patiently this transfer window to learn his fate and had reportedly been interested in rejoining another of his former clubs Real Betis.
Arteta, according to Fabrizio Romano, was desperate for the talented playmaker to return to the Premier League and called Dani to assure him he would remain an integral part of his plans.
Los Blancos are said to have received three other offers for Dani, but he will join up with Arsenal’s first team roster imminently as the FA Cup holders intensify their preparations for the new term.
Arteta’s side began their pre-season campaign in stunning fashion, defeating MK Dons 4-1 before claiming the first silverware of the new season, beating Liverpool on penalties following a 1-1 draw, a match which Dani made sure his legion of followers on social media knew he was watching.
Meantime, Wolverhampton Wanderers have allegedly conceded that they are now unlikely to land Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles during this summer’s transfer market.
