Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that Fakirs failed to transfer to Liverpool has alerted La Liga giants Real Madrid.
It had been reported that the France international, currently at the World Cup in Russia, would complete a £53million to Liverpool.
It had reported the fee and personal terms between Liverpool and Lyon have been agreed but the transfer fall down after Frenchman failed to pass the medical at Melwood and the Reds tried to lower Lyon’s asking price.
Speaking to RT France, Aulas said: “Yeah, listen, at that stage it was foreseen he would go to Liverpool, I had given it the green light to go ahead. but it just took too long, things were just too drawn out.
“He is an exceptional player, he keeps the ball in little space and has an incredible talent.
The fact that things didn’t conclude with the Merseyside Reds and it didn’t happen in that time has peaked the interest of a lot of other clubs including Real Madrid and their new boss Julen Lopetegui.
“There is a lot of interest from other camps, so everything is possible.”
