Liverpool legend Steve Nicol wishes that Reds head-coach Jurgen Klopp would move for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.
According to Nicol, Koulibaly would form an incredible partnership alongside with Virgil van Dijk at the Merseyside Reds backline, which would help Jurgen Klopp’s side to cement their status as the dominant team in the English top-tier.
However, he claims a deal will not happen because of the ex-of Joe Gomez this campaign.
“Listen, I think in an ideal world you would like to have Koulibaly sat next to Virgil van Dijk, but it’s never going to happen,” Nicol told ESPN FC, as quoted by Tribal Football.
“Gomez has actually done a really good job, just before the pandemic shutdown I thought he had gotten back to where he was before that bad injury 18 months ago.
“But if I had a wishlist then I would wish that Koulibaly could be beside Virgil van Dijk.”
Senegalese international defender, Kalidou Koulibaly is widely tipped to depart from Napoli for a potential world-record fee for a centre-back, with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United rumoured with a move for his services and both of them are ready to splash money to get the deal done.
