The Bianconeri are interested in signing the London giants centre-forward Alexandre Lacazette this summer and the Gunners will consider a player-plus-cash offer, according to reports.
Although France international has featured prominently under the Spanish coach, he only has two years remaining on his current deal and the London club’s hierarchy have identified him as a footballer they could cash in on to raise transfer funds.
Gunners priority this summer has been to wrap up a deal extension for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and once he has put pen to paper they will shift their attention to selling Alexandre. Old Lady are keeping tabs on Lacazette and are considering making a move, with the side in need of more goals in their squad.
While Cristiano Ronaldo netted 31 times in Serie A last campaign, their second-highest scorer, Paulo Dybala, netted a rather more modest 11 times. Gonzalo Higuain scored eight times and is expected to be offloaded this summer, with just one year to run on his deal.
The London giants are prepared to do a deal for the 29-year-old centre-forward at the right price, reportedly valuing him at nearly £30m, but would also entertain a swap deal with the Italian club.
Serie A giants’ finances are very tight this summer due to the financial impact of the covid crisis and club chiefs have recently spoken of the need to be creative in the transfer market and the likelihood of doing swap deals.
While the French centre-forward’s work rate and displays have largely pleased Mikel Arteta, he only netted 10 goals and recorded four assists in a somewhat underwhelming campaign and the club’s hierarchy may feel it is prudent to cash in on a footballer who will turn 30 on his next birthday.
