Liverpool’s £66 million summer arrival Alisson could have seen his career take a very different turn when West Brom were scouting him during the early stages of his time at AS Roma.
The Daily Express is reporting that the Baggies were keeping a watchful eye on him after he made a move to the Serie A side.
The Brazilian was said to be of particular interest to ex-Scotland No.1 Jonathan Gould, who was on a scouting mission for the Championship side.
Alisson Becker struggled to break into the Italian outfit’s starting eleven when he first joined them initially and largely played as a back-up to former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
It was not until the latter moved on to Serie A reigning champions Juventus that Alisson got his big break in Roma.
A standout season saw him earn a move to Anfield this summer in a deal worth a massive £66 million which was later overshadowed by Kepa’s £71 million move to Stamford Bridge.
Both the Blues and the Reds were chasing the Brazil international throughout the summer, but for West Brom, it is a case of what could have been.
