German international midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed that he signed a new Arsenal deal as he has unfinished business at the club.
The German’s midfielder’s previous contract was to expire in the summer but now he will remain at Emirates Stadium until 2021.
A number of European heavyweights including Manchester United were keeping tabs on Ozil’s signature before he agreed to commit his future to the Gunners.
However, Ozil put pen to paper on the deadline day to extend his stay at Arsenal for another three years.
And the 29-year-old claims that he has unfinished business at Arsenal and that has forced him to snub interest from Manchester United and hosts of the European teams.
“I’m delighted to sign here for such a big club like Arsenal,” he said.
“I’ve always said to the club that I’m happy here, and now I’ve signed, I’m really happy.
“My team-mates and family have always supported me. I have a lot of goals here with the team, I want to reach those, and I’m pleased.
“I like the club, and I am happy. I love the city.
“Before I signed the contract, I spoke with my family about what the best decision was for me. At the end of the day, it was really easy for me to say ‘yes’ to the club.
“I’m here for more years, and I hope we will win some titles with the team. I believe in that.”
Manchester United instead of signing Mesut Ozil ended up luring Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford.
