Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe prefers a switch to Chelsea ahead of Serie A giants, Juventus, according to reports in France.
Chelsea are on the brink of signing Kalidou Koulibaly after agreeing a €40m (£33.8m) fee with Serie A giants, Napoli but Thomas Tuchel wants to add another defender to his team before the end of the window.
The Blues are now in talks with Ligue 1 giants, over a deal for Kimpembe and it’s believed that the French champions are willing to sell the 26-year-old.
The West London giants also face competition from Juve as the Italian side have have made an approach this summer.
However, according to FootMercato, Kimpembe’s preference is to sign for Chelsea instead of Juventus.
The report suggests that PSG are holding out for a €50m (£42.3m) fee for the France international.
Speaking during the Blues pre-season training camp in Los Angeles, Tuchel made it clear that strengthening his backline is the main focus.
‘The priority right now is defence, it’s not a secret. From there we need to see what’s possible,’ Tuchel said.
‘We’re competing against the two top teams but Tottenham did a very active and aggressive and early transfer period, they have maybe the strongest squad they ever had with one of the best coaches in the world,
‘Man United are never shy of recruiting with a new coach and Arsenal had some big signings already so we need to keep the level up to be competitive.’
