World-Cup winning attacler refused to rule out a possible switch to Liverpool

Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Mario Gotze has refused to rule out a possible move to Liverpool in the nearby future.

The 26-year-old excelled under current Reds head-coach Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund until German forward made a switch to Bayern Munich back in 2013.

Despite turning down the Merseyside Reds before rejoining Dortmund in 2016, the World Cup winner has revealed that he could make a switch to Liverpool.

“I decided to leave Bayern and Jurgen Klopp was interested in getting me to Liverpool,” Gotze said in the documentary ‘Being Mario Gotze’.

“I was also interested in working with him again – it’s still existing. He is a world-class coach and that’s why it’s always an option.

“I decided to join Borussia Dortmund, but it was not a decision against Liverpool or Jurgen Klopp. But on the contrary.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side are reportedly closing in on the signature of French attacker Nabil Fekir from Lyon, making a deal for Gotze more unlikely.

Meanwhile, Lyon have released a statement that they won’t sell Fekir in the upcoming summer transfer window.
